Moomins and the Comet [Live Rescore]
In partnership with Finders Keepers Records, we are delighted to present an exclusive live music performance and screening of Comet in Moominland. Join Graeme Miller - composer of the original soundtrack to the 1980s TV version of The Moomins - as he brings his seminal score back to life with a rare live re-score of the Film Polski animation.
Fans of the cult series and those new to it will get a chance to experience a live score that incorporates many of the original themes by Graeme Miller and Steve Shill. This post-punk electro-folk music – recently released to critical acclaim - mixes the voices of vintage synthesizers with ocarinas and bagpipes. Played from an array instruments and devices on a kitchen table, the live music accompanies the quirky and luminous images of the “Fuzzy-felt Moomins” and follows the remarkable adventures of Moomintroll and his friends to the Observatory in the Lonely Mountains to find out if the Comet will, after all, destroy Moominland.
This performance has been received with rapture at festivals this summer and now comes to the Gallery as part of Moomin Winter Weekend, in celebration of the Tove Jansson (1914-2001).
Doors will open at 10:15pm for a 10:30pm start.
