Berthe Morisot and Feminist Art History
In this talk, art historian Dr Claire Moran will explore intimacy, friendships and attachments in the work of Berthe Morisot (1841–95). Touching on three inter-connected areas in Morisot's work, namely the self, female friendship and the material history of painting, Dr Moran will compare Morisot's paintings with other well-known Impressionist works by Manet and Renoir.
Dr Claire Moran is a 19th-century art historian, a Reader at Queen's University Belfast focused on French Studies.
