Contextual Lecture: Terrorism: Always With Us?
The intensity and nature of terrorism has radically altered in recent history. This lecture considers how far these changes are likely to continue and where they may lead.
About the speaker: Professor Charles Townshend
Charles Townshend is Professor Emeritus of International History at Keele University, and his areas of research include Modern British and Irish history, the history of war, particularly political violence and terrorism, public security, emergency powers and counter-insurgency in Ireland and Palestine under British rule. His publications include Easter 1916: The Irish Rebellion (2005), and Terrorism: a very short introduction (2002). Has previously served as Fellow, National Humanities Center (1987-88), and as Fellow at Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (1991-92).
