Contextual Lecture: Constitution? What is a Constitution?

Book Now

The UK has no formal constitutional document, yet its central principle, the sovereignty of parliament, is well understood. By 2060 how will parliament function? Will it fulfill its major constitutional responsibilities? And will we be accused of having taken constitutionality for granted?

About the speaker: Igor Lord Judge

Lord Igor Judge’s distinguished career in law has seen him serve as a High Court Judge, Queen’s Bench Division, and as Lord Justice of Appeal, before being appointed Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales and Head of the Judiciary of England and Wales in 2008. Shortly afterwards, he was created a life peer. Since retiring as Lord Chief Justice in September 2013, he has been appointed Treasurer of the Middle Temple for 2014, Chief Surveillance Commissioner (2015-2017), and is currently a member of the Constitution Committee in the House of Lords.
