The Future of the UK Constitution is part of the 2016 Contextual Lecture Series: Taking Liberties.
In this talk, Dr. Andrew Blick of King's College London, author of 'Beyond Magna Carta: a constitution for the United Kingdom', uses an historic perspective as a means of understanding the way we are governed today, and how we might be governed in future. He considers a series of myths surrounding our constitution, and suggests alternative explanations. Finally he discusses how these new understandings might help us to address present difficulties. In particular he asks, might we one day adopt a written constitution and establish a federal United Kingdom?
Dr Andrew Blick is Lecturer of Politics and Contemporary History at King's College London, and author of Beyond Magna Carta: A Constitution for the United Kingdom, 2015
