Family Festival: Colourfest
All ages welcome
Kick off summer with a celebration of colour for all the family! Explore colour in lots of different ways – through storytelling, printmaking, drawing, building and more. Remember, our Collection and Cutting Edge exhibition are free for you to explore!
Making an Impression
10am-5pm, Gallery 4 and Cloisters
Come and see the results of the gallery’s summer family project ‘Making an Impression’! In Gallery 4 you can try out the resource we have made with a group of local families over 6 sessions and in the cloisters you can see the artwork they have made during these sessions.
Rainbow Storytelling
11am, 12pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm, Gazebo in the Grounds (First-Come, First-Served)
Have you been tickled pink? Are you feeling blue? Or are you green with envy? Join our magical storyteller, Debbie Guneratne, for a series of stories about the power of different colours.
Stitch School
10am-5pm, Pavilion
Try your hand at different kinds of stitching and help Stitch School create a summer supper cloth inspired by The Colour Palace. We’ve been making this cloth with different visitors across the summer, and you’ll be able to see the final piece in our Sackler Centre come September!
Print Patterns
10am-5pm, Sackler Centre
Have you visited our exhibition Cutting Edge? Take a look at the prints made by the Grosvenor School, and then have a go at making a dynamic print to take home.
Pop Up Palace
10am-5pm, Linbury Room
Fancy yourself an architect? Have a go at building a group structure inspired by colour and shape, and watch it grow over the day!
Abstract Adventure
10am-5pm, Grounds
Enjoy a journey through colour, shape and line! At each different art making station on this adventure trail explore these different ideas before bringing them together to make one final image.
Colour Crowns
10am-5pm, Pavilion
Take inspiration from the different colours and shapes of The Colour Palace, and create a crown fit for a king or queen of colour!
Rainbow Baby
10am-5pm, Gallery 2
Do you have a child under 3 years with you? Drop in to Gallery 2 to explore some sensory play mats based on the three primary colours and take a break.
