Portrait of a Lady
In 1935 Spanton's niece, Miss Tarrant, said she believed that this painting had been purchased by her uncle, time and place unknown, and that the attributions may have been reversed between two of Spanton's pictures, the 'Kneller' (DPG611) and the 'Highmore' (DPG613). But this painting has nothing to do with Highmore or Kneller and is the work of an anonymous late-17th/early-18th century hand.
