Vase with Flowers
Formerly catalogued as a work by Van Huysum's eighteenth-century imitator Jacob Xavery, this painting has recently been reattributed to a follower of Jan van Huysum. It has Van Huysum's typical curved flower arrangement, dramatic lighting and the juxtaposition of blossoms of different sizes, but the plants have not been painted with the same painstaking detail for which he was so admired.
