Journeys: Watch our Collection Conversations Animation
Journeys is an ambitious, multi-disciplinary project exploring migration and belonging through art.
As well as a new display in the Gallery co-curated by six Community Curators, Journeys has brought together a variety of people from local community groups with their own stories and experiences of migration to connect with artworks from our collection. We invited them to share their ideas around a painting using Visual Thinking Strategies, a creative conversation technique that explores the way we see, think and communicate. These Collection Conversations were recorded and have formed the narrative of a new animation commission by Nicola Jane Francis, bringing these stories to life.
The film will be shown at the Gallery throughout the run of Journeys, as well as reaching new audiences both digitally and at local events in South East London. You can watch it in full below.
With special thanks to each of our Collection Conversations participants; Dulwich Picture Gallery’s own Creative Arts Café and young volunteers, Community Ambassadors from the Wallace Collection, The Baytree Centre's Into School programme, Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers and Paxton Green Timebank.
The Collection Conversations Animation will be shown on a loop every Wednesday in Dulwich Picture Gallery’s Linbury Room from 10am–1pm.
