Contextual Lecture: Medical Ethics: Contemporary Perplexities

Book Now

Join Professor of Medical Ethics at Oxford University, Tony Hope, to discuss contemporary issues surrounding medical ethics.

Developments in medical science create new moral choices. Medical ethics brings philosophical reasoning to bear on these choices and cannot duck the practical questions of what should be done in specific situations. Professor Hope will illustrate various methods of argument in medical ethics, applying them to a number of issues including dementia care, euthanasia and reproductive medicine. Professor Hope will also gaze into the crystal ball and imagine some future issues that may arise from scientific advances, and globalisation.

This lecture is part of the 2018 Contextual Lecture Series: Tomorrow's World - Intimations of the Future.
