With extensive experience as an independent producer of award-winning films including Chariots of Fire and Bugsy Malone, Lord Puttnam will offer his insights into how cinema and the media will change in the coming decades.

About the speaker: David Lord Puttman CBE

As an independent producer for thirty years, Lord Puttnam worked on award-winning films including The Killing Fields, Chariots of Fire, Midnight Express and Bugsy Malone, and was awarded a BAFTA Fellowship in 2006. Taking a break from film production, David focused on his work in public policy relating to education, the environment, and the creative and communications industries, and in 1998 founded the National Teaching Awards. He has also served as president of UNICEF UK (2002-2009), as Chancellor of the Open University (2006-2014), and as UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia (2012) as well as International Ambassador for WWF (2016). Knighted in 1995 and appointed to the House of Lords in 1997, Lord Puttnam is currently chair of online education company Atticus Education, and has recently moved back to film production and is overseeing pre-production of Arctic 30.
