Contextual Lecture: How Einstein Made Our Future Less Frightening

Book Now

One of the leading experts in theoretical physics and astronomy, Professor Binney will consider the positive implications of Einstein’s theories on the world of tomorrow.

About the speaker: Professor James Binney

James Binney is a theoretical physicist who works on problems in astronomy and is Professor of Physics at Oxford University. Teaching on a wide range of topics within physics, with an emphasis on mathematical physics, Binney’s work also examines the structure and formation of galaxies. A distinguished developer of new computer-based methods for studying the internal dynamics of galaxies, his work (from surveys) has helped build more accurate models of the galaxy. With Scott Tremaine, he wrote the standard reference work on galactic dynamics, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2000 and is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and the Royal Astronomical Society.
