Network (1976)
In this four-time Oscar winning satire, news anchor Howard Beale learns he is being fired by his network. After stating live on air that he will kill himself during his final show, his popularity soars and he comes to be known as “the mad prophet of the airwaves”. The film’s message about the sinister side of the news industry has proven unnervingly relevant to today, and it has recently been turned into a highly acclaimed play starring Bryan Cranston.
