Itinerary: Bargain Hunters
A trip to Dulwich Picture Gallery doesn’t have to break the bank. Here’s an itinerary with loads of reasonably-priced and free stuff to get up to in and around the Gallery…
2 for 1 tickets: Come visit our Permanent Collection at half the price when you buy National Rail tickets to the Gallery via ATOC! You can get even more out of your visit by coming on a weekend to catch a free guided tour.
Pavillion Café: Having saved on your Gallery tickets, why not take a walk around Dulwich Park and enjoy a cheap lunch at the café? This place is especially well-reputed for its cakes…
Or if it’s nice weather, bring your own food and go old-school with a picnic in the park.
Wandering down Lordship Lane will take you through Dulwich Outdoor Gallery – a series of striking murals by renowned street artists. Each one is a wonderfully contemporary reworking of a painting in the Gallery’s collection. You can see a map of their locations here.
Lordship Lane is also a great place to enjoy some retail therapy at bargain prices! St Christopher’s Hospice has two shops on the road brimming with barely worn designer labels. Just around the corner, North Cross Road has a weekly Saturday market – a fun place to rummage through piles of second hand books and antique furniture, sample some tasty street food and soak up the lively atmosphere.
Off The Cuff: For cheap drinks and some evening entertainment, head to this retro bar located under the railway arches of Herne Hill Station. Enjoy free entry to live music every night until 11pm.
