Family visits

The Gallery welcomes families and offers a range of visitor services to make your day easy to manage.

FREE Entry

Gallery Admission is free for children under the age of 18. This includes entry to our temporary Exhibitions, Collection and Displays. We recommend booking Under 18 tickets in advance online as capacity is limited due to social distancing measures.

Family Activities

The Gallery runs a host of family activities for all ages. Find Out More.

Family Resource

We offer free resources created for and with families at the Gallery. Take part in lots of activities inspired by a group of local families.

Planter Trail

Discover our colourful family planter trail, inspired by our previous Unearthed exhibition, for families to use together whilst exploring the gardens of Dulwich Picture Gallery.

Level access

There is level access to enter the Gallery via the main entrance from College Road and to exit via the shop onto Gallery Road. All areas within the Gallery are all on one level.

Cloakroom and pram park

Prams can be left at the owner’s risk along the walls in the glass cloister.

Toilets and baby change facilities

Public toilets, including a unisex accessible toilet with a baby changing station, are located in the corner of the glass cloister next to the Linbury Room.

Feeding and seating

Breast-feeding is allowed anywhere in the Gallery.

Folding portable stools are available, please ask a member of staff for assistance. Visitors are welcome to sit on the green upholstered benches in the Gallery. Wooden benches are situated throughout the gardens and in the exhibition space where possible.

Eating and drinking

Families are welcome to bring packed lunches. During nice weather families can picnic on the grounds. We do not have a designated lunchroom.

Café

The Café has a children’s menu and high-chairs. Bottle warming services are also available.

Shopping

The Gallery Shop has a great selection of books and art activities for children.

Best times to visit

The Gallery is at its quietest at opening time, particularly at weekends. Lots of schools visit during the day (usually in the morning) and many tourists and families visit over half-terms and holidays. Expect the Gallery to be busy and keep your eyes on each other.

Touching and barriers

Please remind your group that touching paintings is not allowed. Sometimes very young children toddle under the barriers – keep your eyes on each other to stay safe.
